Bio
Roland Richardson (1944, St. Martin)
Dedicated to the art of "Plein Air" Impressionism, Sir Roland Richardson's paintings of his Caribbean homeland have become true symbols of the region's beauty and rich culture. Sir Richardson's "Plein Air" creations, always accomplished on location, from living subjects, joyfully communicate the natural wonder and history of his native Caribbean, specifically the island of St. Martin, where the 70 year-old artist was born.
Sir Richardson's paintings emanate the glorious light that bathes our verdant landscape. His portraits speak the soul of a whole community, young and old, their work, their introspection. His turquoise seascapes roll in rhythmic waves while fruits and flowers on their vine, or bundled in bouquets, transform their moment's beauty to ever-lasting brilliance through the energy of light and color.
